Project Annya
On July 23, 2025, a tragic vehicle accident took the life of Annya Palsitt – a beautiful and creative 17 year old from Mundare AB. A recent graduate of Vegreville Composite High School, Annya had plans to attend the University of Alberta Augustana Campus pursuing Elementary Education in the fall. She loved children and would have made an amazing teacher. Her Loss has left a huge hole in Mundare, Vegreville and surrounding communities. While recently installed signage and increased enforcement are a step in the right direction, they have been insufficient to prevent the frequency and gravity of incidents at this intersection. The intersection of Highway 16 and 855 requires physical traffic control measures such as realignment, signalization or grade separation to prevent further loss of life and injury. Project Annya is calling on: MLA Jackie Armstrong-Homeniuk The Alberta Ministry of Transportation & Economic Corridors Lamont County & other municipalities … to make this intersection a priority and to deliver a definitive plan in a timely manner to bring an end to the many accidents and loss of life occurring year after year.
